Acrylic Acid is an \u03b1,\u03b2-unsaturated carboxylic acid whose vinyl group and carboxyl group allow it to participate in free-radical polymerisation, copolymerisation, neutralisation, and esterification. This dual functionality is especially important in acrylic emulsions and superabsorbent polymer production: it provides reactive sites for chain formation while introducing acid functionality that can improve adhesion, dispersibility, water absorption, and pH response in the finished polymer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unlike acrylic esters such as butyl acrylate, Acrylic Acid contributes a free carboxylic acid group rather than only flexibility or hydrophobicity. This makes it a key functional comonomer for waterborne coatings, adhesive emulsions, dispersants, and polyacrylate-based water-treatment products. The product is supplied with MEHQ inhibitor because Acrylic Acid can self-polymerise exothermically under unsuitable heat, light, contamination, or storage conditions.
