Citric Acid Anhydrous is chosen when a formulation requires citric-acid functionality without the addition of water of crystallisation. Compared with citric acid monohydrate, the anhydrous grade is a better fit for dry blends, effervescent systems, and moisture-sensitive formulas in which water contribution, caking risk, and dosage calculations need close control.

This grade has an assay of 99.5–100.5% and moisture of ≤0.2%. Its 20% aqueous solution must remain clear, with light transmittance controlled at ≥98.0%. Those limits matter especially in clear beverage bases, syrup premixes, and other products where haze or colour variation may alter the appearance of the finished product.

The page specification sets APHA colour at ≤20 Pt/Co, chloride at ≤5 ppm, sulphate at ≤20 ppm, and calcium at ≤20 ppm. Compared with a general-purpose acidulant, this gives purchasers a clearer standard while supporting consistent acidification, flavour balance, and pH adjustment in industrial formulations.
