Visión general
CMC performance depends on more than purity; its degree of substitution and solution viscosity matter as well. With a degree of substitution of 0.7–0.9, this grade provides a 1% solution viscosity of 1,500–2,800 mPa·s at 25°C when measured with a Brookfield LVT viscometer. Once hydrated in water, the carboxymethyl groups form a viscous colloidal system. That gives formulators a way to add body, stabilize dispersed particles, and control texture in water-based products.
Its 80–120 mesh powder form promotes more consistent dispersion. The specified pH range of 6.5–8.5 for a 1% solution also gives buyers a basis for judging compatibility with dairy, beverage, personal-care, and tablet systems. Rather than choosing a product labeled only as a “food thickener,” buyers can use the viscosity and substitution values to manage mouthfeel, suspension stability, and processing behavior more practically. Moisture is controlled at ≤8.0%, and the grade has defined heavy-metal and microbiological limits for food and human-nutrition applications.
