Product Overview

Our PHOSPHORIC ACID FOOD GRADE 85% is a high‑purity orthophosphoric acid solution specially formulated for the food and beverage industry. Designed principally as an acidulant, acidity regulator and yeast nutrient, this product supports flavour enhancement, pH control and stability in a wide range of edible applications. When utilised in the proper manner, it meets food‑grade purity requirements (e.g., Food Chemical Codex (FCC) standards) and is suitable for use in beverages, confectionery, dairy, jams and other processed foods.

 Key Features & Benefits

  • Clean, tangy acidulation: As an acidulant, the product delivers a sharp, clean sour taste which is often used to balance sweetness in carbonated soft drinks, jams and jellies.

  • Acidity regulation & shelf‑life support: Functions as an acidity regulator to maintain pH, support microbial stability, and help extend shelf life in processed foods and beverages.

  • Yeast nutrient support: In certain fermented food applications, the phosphoric acid and its derived phosphates serve as nutrient sources for yeast.

  • Versatility across product formats: Suitable for applications including colas, soft drinks, jams, processed cheese, meat emulsions, dressings and other pH‑sensitive systems.

  • Food‑grade certification potential: Meets the criteria for use in food applications (as a food additive E 338) under applicable regulations (e.g., EU Annex III, Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008).

Typical Applications

  • Carbonated soft drinks (colas): Used to impart the characteristic tangy flavour and to balance sweetness in cola‑type beverages.

  • Jams, jellies & fruit preserves: Acts as a souring acidulant and pH regulator to stabilise texture and flavour.

  • Dairy & processed cheese: Helps in controlling pH in cheese manufacture or processed cheese emulsions.

  • Meat, dressings & sauces: Provides acidity control, flavour enhancement and supports emulsion stability.

  • Yeast fermentation / nutrient media: When used in fermentation applications, the acid and derived phosphates serve as nutrients.

Regulatory & Safety Considerations

  • As an approved food‑additive (E 338) in many jurisdictions, use must comply with maximum use levels and good manufacturing practice. For example, in the EU certain uses require “quantum satis” (as much as needed) but subject to safety assessment.

  • While food‑grade, phosphoric acid is a strong acid and must be handled with appropriate safety precautions (e.g., appropriate personal protective equipment, correct dilution procedures).

  • For all food processing uses, compatibility with the final food matrix and downstream processing (e.g., impact on taste, texture, stability) should be evaluated.

Packaging & Supply Options

We provide PHOSPHORIC ACID FOOD GRADE 85% in a variety of food‑industry friendly packaging (e.g., drums, totes, tankers) to meet bulk supply demands. Typical packaging options include drums, IBC totes, and bulk tanker‑loads (depending on region and logistics). Equivalent packaging tiers as seen in industrial grade alternative disclosures.

Handling & Storage Recommendations

  • Store in a cool, dry, well‑ventilated area away from incompatible materials (strong bases, metals, alkalis).

  • Maintain original container closed when not in use; avoid moisture ingress.

  • During dilution, always add acid to water (not water to acid) to avoid exothermic hazards.

  • Use suitable acid‑resistant equipment and materials.

  • Traceability and quality assurance records should be maintained to assure food‑grade compliance (heavy metals, etc) since it is used in edible applications.
