Pullulan Capsules are more than a general vegan substitute for gelatin capsules. The grade is governed by specific controls for mechanical performance and release: no more than 1 capsule in 10 may fail the tightness limit, no more than 5 in 50 may be brittle, and disintegration must occur within 20 minutes. For supplement manufacturers, these limits address both shell integrity during handling and consistent release after filling.
A further product-specific detail is the separate residue-on-ignition specification for each capsule appearance: ≤2.0% for transparent shells, ≤3.0% for translucent shells, and ≤5.0% for opaque shells. The 10.0–14.0% loss-on-drying range and 000#–5# size coverage add defined quality controls, while color options range from transparent to custom Pantone choices, giving brands flexibility in capsule appearance. Unopened capsules should be kept in a dry place protected from light at ≤25°C and used promptly after opening.
